Blair Hurst
Life Coach/ Cultural Resource

Blair belongs to the Metis Nation of Alberta Region 3 and works as an individual youth and family support worker. He began his 16-year career working with at risk youth (ages 12-18 years) in group homes and youth detention centres. Blair has experience counselling, coaching, and mentoring troubled youth in different areas of their lives. Blair’s training includes areas such as brain story certification, suicide intervention (ASIST), client mediation, as well as training in aboriginal awareness and diversity competence.

Blair grew up in the foster care system due to violence and neglect in the home. As well, many difficult life experiences brought him down a road of addictions which ultimately led to incarceration in youth detention centres in Northern Alberta. After hitting rock bottom Blair was able to see the personal value in helping youths develop hope, healing and resilience in their own lives through mentoring using a strength-based approach to personal development.

Blair enjoys spending time with his wife and teenage children, reading, and further development of his mentoring skills.
